Does anyone out there know what this 'flag' is doing in my navbar at the top of the screen? I just noticed it now and it's bothering me no end. Why is it there? Objectionable material? I don't understand? Has anyone else had this show up?

Yup, get that on my blog too. I think they're trying to eliminate hateful material, or something like that. If you let the mouse hover over the flag, there pops up a tooltip, and in there is a link to an explanation for this.

ReplyDeleteI know about the info by clicking on it, but why did it show up? I have been posting on sixeyes for over a year and have never seen it before. Does it show up when someone complains? It just doesn't make any sense to me.
I think it is a newer feature to keep folk in check. Like Cragslist flags. Just in case you should get the idea in your head to start posting Abba tracks or something...
ReplyDeleteIn case the previous posts aren't completely clear, the flag button doesn't mean your blog HAS objectionable content. It's there so if someone thinks your blog is objectionable, they can click it and report it to the central servers.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Blogger is planning on censoring writers; everything I've read about the new flagging feature has been in the context of reporting spam blogs and fake, robot-created blogs that are just created to scam advertising money and click-throughs.
I think sosasosad brings up a good point. Any bloggin about Staind or Creed outtakes gets you flagged.
ReplyDeleteStrange, there isn't one on my blog. But then the only traffic I get is from Webnymph, so maybe it's only on more popular blogs or something.
