| Sixeyes Sunday Mix: Pornographic Inspiration? |
Carl Newman of the New Pornographers has a song by song commentary of the upcoming New Pornos record, Challengers (to be released August 21st 2007), on the Matador Records website. A short, but interesting read, it kindly offers up, from time to time, what he feels inspired these new songs, or what old favourites these songs resemble. Required reading for all of you out there sharpening your pencils to write a review of the upcoming and highly anticipated Challengers record. But I've had my interest piqued in another way and I went in search of some of these songs, or artists, he mentions... here's some of what I found in today's Sunday Mix at Sixeyes.
(pre-order the Challengers record here)
harry nilsson she sang hymns out of tune electric light orchestra (jeff lynne) sweet talkin' woman the move (roy wood) blackberry way roxy music more than this sparks beat the clock shocking blue send me a postcard paul mccartney maybe i'm amazed subway sect ambition

Excellent mix! Not one bad song (although I gotta say I prefer The Faces' version of Maybe I'm Amazed).
