| Sixeyes Mix: Beirut SXSW 2007 |
In March of 2oo7 at Austin's SXSW, Zach Condon and his large band, Beirut, played a wonderful set for KEXP radio. It included two of several standout tracks from Beirut's upcoming release, The Flying Club Cup, October 9th on Ba Da Bing! The first song performed was the then untitled "The Penalty", an extremely powerful melody carried by the strengthening croon of Zach Condon. His vocals are much stronger on this new album, a reality realized as much by his increasing confidence, as by his technique. You'll also find in this mix"A Sunday Smile", another standout from The Flying Club Cup, not as strong as "The Penalty", but surely the track that will draw new fans to Beirut's music with it's swaying sing-along rhythm.
