Today is the day you New Pornographers fans can rejoice for Carl (A.C.) Newman has finally let loose his baby - his solo debut - 'The Slow Wonder'.
I am about to trek down to this cities best indie cd store and pick it up. It should be an enjoyable walk as it is already 18 degrees celsius out there.
This piece below is Newman himself telling us all how easy it is to make the wry, pristine pop he makes... go ahead, try it yourself.
"Okay, now here's how A.C. Newman records are made: I practice with Shane and Fisher for a few weeks to get skeletal arrangements down. We go record the bed tracks at a studio. I sit with John and Dave at their studio for a few months and I brainstorm and experiment, throw shit down, etc...
"Some songs I start with a click track and build the song around it, adding Pete's drums later. Dan and Fisher come in to play ping pong. Shane, Megan, Sarah, and Shaun come in periodically to record, and Fisher and Dan come in for a few days at the end to play more ping pong. John, Dave, and I then spend a couple of weeks mixing it, with our pal Howard Redekopp at the helm.

thankyou so verymuch for the information my good sir.. i had no idea carl newman was doing anything outside the porno's. i would pick up the album but i doubt it will be released in my neck of the woods.
