califone

Califone's music is rooted in Americana - blues and folk, banjos and weirdness - often sounding like they just emerged from the same barn (Prairie Sun Recording) where Tom Waits recorded Bone Machine - sounding like the early '70's flick Deliverance transposed into music - a rustic, rootsy sound, at times laced with a hot wire of bluesy violence.

The band's current lineup is Tim Rutili (vocals, electric piano, guitar) – along with Ben Masserella (drums), Joe Adamik (drums, electronics) and Jim Becker (banjo, fiddle, guitar). Currently in the midst of a North American tour, here's where they will be playing soon:

Wed 6/16/04 Tucson, AZ Plush
Thu 6/17/04 San Diego, CA Casbah
Fri 6/18/04 Los Angeles, CA Spaceland
Sat 6/19/04 Sacremento, CA Harlow's
Thu 6/24/04 Eugene, OR Sam Bond's
Fri 6/25/04 Portland, OR Berbati's Pan
