Discover: ELVY
Lionel Vanhaute is Elvy, a one man band based in Namur, Belgium. A one man band whose music is quiet and soft, the confessions of a talented young man singing alone from the edge of his bed, or into a mic propped upon a kitchen table. This is the sound of someone not afraid to expose themselves in song, but I believe he may be cautious about letting the songs get heard. That may sound strange when you discover that Elvy has three full length albums free to download on his website, but when you hear the talent he has, you'll wonder why you haven't heard the music and the name before. With close to ten years of recording his songs behind him, it's about time music lovers discovered this musician. Working with a few instruments and his computer, Elvy sounds like he's making demos for a fictional band that describes themselves on their (fictional) myspace as a cross between Band of Horses, Great Lake Swimmers, and Hayden. If you like to hear a lovely soft song bundled up in a lo-fi coat, give a listen to Elvy. And even if that doesn't appeal, the talent should.
I forgot to add this plea from Elvy, found on his myspace page:
I would like to record a "best of" of those three demo albums in a real professional studio. If you can help me in that direction, please contact me.
I'M LOOKING FOR A NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKING PERSON TO CORRECT THE LYRICS IN ORDER TO RECORD DEFINITIVE VERSIONS IN STUDIO.
Here's Elvy's email: elvymusic(at)hotmail(dot)com - don't hesitate to contact him if you can help out.
