THE VEILS: Contest Giveaway at Sixeyes!

If you'd like to win two tickets to any one show by The Veils, a Sixeyes favourite, plus a copy of the critically acclaimed album, Nux Vomica, you're at the right place. All you've got to do is use your imagination and tell me your answer to this simple question: "If Finn Andrews of The Veils were an animal, what would he be, and why?"

That's all it takes and you may find yourself enjoying The Veils up close and personal at one of the bands current tour stops (and a copy of the fantastic Nux Vomica will be yours to keep). Please leave your answer in the comments, along with your email address, so you can be contacted when you win!

Oh yeah, Finn Andrews (center in the picture above) himself will select the lucky winner.

Good luck!

  1. To be completely honest I had never heard of this band until about 20 minutes ago, so coming up with creative metaphorical descriptions for Finn Andrews (who apparently is the lead singer) is no easy task. But I am all for trying to win free stuff, and the songs I heard from the album sound pretty good.

Finn Andrews... well I'm going to skip the obvious, and spare you from "dolphin" or other water creatures since I'm sure you've already read plenty of those. The poor guy has two last names, but FINN is still a much better first name than HENNING, the drummer. I don't know what sort of lunatic parents are in New Zealand, but where do they come up with these?

Oh yes, an animal. Squirrel. The reason? Nobody else will pick it.

  2. Hmm lets think... an animal that describes finna andrews.

Well for some reason I look at him and he just screams "paltypus".

I only heard about this band 25 minutes ago, the songs I have listened to off the website threw my mind into a world of fantasy for a moment. If this Finn Andrews fellow were a animal, I guess he would then be a unicorn ....with a little research I was able to find "The unicorn is the only fabulous beast that does not seem to have been conceived out of human fears. In even the earliest references he is fierce yet good, selfless yet solitary, but always mysteriously beautiful. He could be captured only by unfair means, and his single horn was said to neutralize poison" ......seems appropriate enough.

  4. i'd say a gazelle. i think it's an extremely elegant animal, and if there's one adjective (i think) for finn's voice, it's elegant.

well i you better not send me the tickets because i'm in the wrong hemisphere and i already have the album, but i couldn't resist playing along. is it cheating if i pick a mythological animal? well too bad, because i definitely think finn would be an amphisbaena. you know, a fabulous two headed serpent... it's sort of the impression you get from listening to nux vomica - a big dark brooding beast pulling in one direction, and a creature of gentle beauty pulling in the other.

plus he's fairly slim, isn't he.

I am going to say...a black panther..a thin one. His eyeS remind me of a panther..I don't know why, but they do..and black because I've never seen him not wearing black.

  7. finn would be...

a black cat with a big black hat...swaying and sauntering to "Calliope" on a subtle lit stage, bursting into flames and singing with all the rage he can muster up at the top of his lungs for one more show a cafe du nord that lasts deep into the dark night, then he'll say goodnight, tip the hat, saunter onto the moonlit concrete of the san francisco streets.

I'm going to avoid the obvious (cat/stork) and go with lemur. He seems pretty funny, and has big eyes.

Also, Henning Dietz is super-German btw.

If Finn Andrews was an animal he would be a wolf. Wolves can appear to be dark & menacing from a distance but are very loyal to the people they love. Often caretakers searching distant lands to bring back "treasures" to the pack. And every once in a while lets out a howl to express remorse.
